Christopher Heitzman Car Accident

Saturday, July 7th @ about 6 pm, Christopher and 2 friends were involved in a very serious car accident. Christopher was life flighted to a major trauma center in ATL, GA, Grady Memorial Health System.  He has been stabilized and is in the trauma ICU currently.  He was a passenger in the front seat and was T boned on his side, taking the full impact.

His injuries are extensive: He has a mild sub arachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral contusion which they are monitoring closely. He is unconscious and on a ventilator. Other injuries include multiple fractures: a fractured scapula, bilateral fractured ankles, sacrum, and possible hand fracture.  He has a pulmonary contusion and ruptured bladder and a small laceration to the spleen.

The most serious injury is his head injury and the doctors say it will be 3 to 5 days to better understand the full impact of this. Please use the power of prayer to help Christopher to a full recovery.

Please keep Christopher, Debbie and Randy and the entire Heitzman family in your thoughts and prayers.

  12. Dear Heitzman Family,
On Feb. 17, 2011 my little girl, Paige Wheeler, then 18, took the impact of a TBone car accident. She was life flighted to Grady and spent 11days struggling on the vent, had a collapsed lung, broken bones, shattered skull, etc. Traumatic brain injury top on list. As soon as she was stable we transferred her to Shepherd Centers acquired brain injury unit. After a dim prognosis for full recovery, including wheel chair and no college in her future, she walked out of shepherd, graduated with her class, started college in August and ended first year with a 3.6 gpa. Do not lose faith in your child. These injuries are recoverable with early therapy intervention. My heart hurts for you, but I beg you to keep the faith and take care of yourself so you stay well and can help him recover. There are happy endings. Much love and prayer coming your way, Suzanne Clem-wheeler

  14. Christopher, not sure if you remember me or not but i had you and your brother in art and music when y'all attended CCS. i know you will get through this with God's help. You are being lifted up in prayer by so many people - many of them you don't even know - but God knows. Stay strong and may the God of all grace, comfort, peace and healing be with you now and in the days to come.

  15. To the family of Chris Heitzman,
Asking God to send you comfort -knowing He is in control; peace -knowing you raised a fantastic young man who is strong, vigilant and resilient; and a special blessing for Chris' recovery. Remember to take care of yourselves as well as each other- EAT, DRINK, SLEEP and ASK for help if you need it. This is too difficult to do alone and you are NOT ALONE. Staying strong also means staying healthy so you CAN be there for Chris. I can't imagine he doesn't sense your presence and all the prayers and love that surrounds him- it surrounds you too. You are blessed with a community that rises to occasion without fail and will be there for you when you are ready. You're in my prayers.

  24. My name is Nikki Brown, I live in Marietta and I heard about Christopher through a friend. I do not know Christopher but I am praying for his quick recovery and well being.

I read Diana Huntzinger's comment about the family eating, sleeping and taking care of themselves. I want to add to that. I have a gift registry website for just this occasion. It is almost insurmountable the way your life changes in a moment like this. I know because I am a breast cancer survivor. Your friends and family both near and far WANT to help, WANT to send you a small token of their love and best wishes. They want to help both Christopher and the family because the hours spent at the hospital can be very long and exhausting.

Please have someone from the family register at www.deliveringhappy.net It is totally FREE and then you can let your friends and family know if they would like to help ... you are registered at deliveringhappy.net and to login with the name Heitzman, Christopher

I am praying for Christopher and sending lots of love and healing his way.

  26. Dear Chris,

It's been a long time. I have many found memories of you hanging out at the house. You're a fighter and a wonderful young man. Stay strong and know that there are many people praying for your recovery and strength. We're also praying for your entire family and ask God to hold each one of you in His loving arms and to help guide y'all and your doctors during this long journey.

As so many others, we're here for you and your family and will be happy to help in any way we can.

    God Bless You,

  27. Debbie, Randy and Davis...please know our thoughts are with Christopher and with you each and every moment of the day. We anxiously wait for good news and continue to rely on the skill of the doctors at Grady and the strength of Christopher's young body to pull through to recovery. We know from Melissa that you currently have your needs met but we are here and waiting for our turn to support you. Until then, know our love and healing thoughts are sent your way. Continue to be strong...there will be light at the end of this very dark tunnel. All our love, The Nelsons

  29. praying for you in this time. i too have a story of hope- my dad had massive brain hemorrhage and then 24 hours later a second. He was in trauma icu and given 24 to 72 hours to live. They said if he made it through he would never walk, talk, or be able to communicate with us ever again. today- he is doing all that they said he would never do. stay hopeful and full of faith. fight with him daily. never lose hope. jesus is with you, he never leaves, never rests. he is peace and joy and most of all he is life.

  34. I sincerely hope that Christopher was able to recover from his critical condition. I wonder, was the case taken to court? Cases like this could pretty much utilize the help of a personal injury lawyer. An attorney will help the family realize their legal rights. It is important to claim their privileges, particularly the compensation they are entitled to.

  35. So how’s Christopher now three months the accident? Is he recovering well? I hope he is. And, I just want to add to what Javier had said regarding the personal injury lawyer. Christopher indeed might ask for compensation for his medication to both his physical and psychological injury. You can hire or search through about personal injury lawyers through the Internet. I am hoping for his continuous recovery.

  36. I agree with Javier. This is a severe case, and a personal injury lawyer can definitely help Christopher by taking care of his car insurance and by supporting him throughout the whole healing process, physically and emotionally. I’m really hoping for his fast recovery.
